Agreement Strengthens Goldfarb's Reputation as a Top Nursing School in the Region

Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing (Goldfarb) and Greenville University (GU), a private institution in Illinois, have signed a dual enrollment agreement enabling Greenville students to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Goldfarb. The formal signing ceremony took place on Thursday, June 27, and was attended by leaders from both institutions.

This agreement, alongside existing partnerships with Harris-Stowe State University, Fontbonne University and Webster University, reinforces Goldfarb's status as the premier choice for nursing education in St. Louis and the surrounding region.

"We are committed to supporting the regional nursing workforce and improving access to nursing education," said Dr. Angela Clark, PhD, RN, CNE, FAAN, President of Goldfarb. "Welcoming students from neighboring rural communities to join the Barnes-Jewish College legacy of excellence is a privilege."

As part of the BJC Health System, Goldfarb students benefit from clinical experiences at top-ranked hospitals such as Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. This access, combined with Goldfarb’s esteemed reputation, influenced GU's decision to partner with them. Under the 2+2 agreement, students will complete two years of prerequisite coursework at GU, followed by two years of nursing study at Goldfarb.

"With an innovative approach to contemporary methods in nursing education, Goldfarb School of Nursing is well positioned to train our students for a career in nursing,” said Suzanne Davis, President of GU. “Their training, combined with Greenville University’s commitment to prepare the whole person for service to others, creates new opportunities to strengthen rural healthcare.”

Eight Greenville students have been accepted into Goldfarb for the Fall 2024 term. As an NCAA Division III school, GU offers pathways for student-athletes to earn a degree in Medical Biology from GU alongside a BSN from Goldfarb. Non-athlete students may pursue both a GU degree and a Goldfarb degree, or solely a nursing degree from Goldfarb.

The signing ceremony on June 27 included an open house at Goldfarb, featuring tours of the state-of-the-art simulation labs and opportunities for GU students and their families to meet faculty, current students and Goldfarb's mental health dog, Mr. Barnes.
