Orientation and Transition Policy
Orientation and transition experiences provide intentional, in-time support to incoming undergraduate and graduate students beginning or returning to continue their program of study. The purpose of orientation and transition experiences are to help students become fully informed and confident about what to expect as they start the nursing program. The orientation and transition experiences provide information on campus resources and academic expectations that may help them become more successful students. In addition, students have the opportunity to meet school administrators, faculty and staff who will support their efforts to achieve academic success as well as fellow students to build positive communities.
New students are required to complete and attend specific orientation and transition experiences. Orientation and Transition experiences may include:
- Orientation Course
- Compliance Modules and Requirements
- New Student Orientation
- Supplemental Sessions (as needed)
- Welcome Week (first week of each term)
- Student Success Benchmarks (including a required New Student Advising Appointment)
Check Your New Student Checklist
To be a student at Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College you will need to fully complete your admission record. Your admissions file includes all prerequisite coursework verified by official transcripts, paying your admissions deposit, and submitting your important documents. You can view and check the status of your admissions file by communicating with your Admissions Advisor and checking your account.
Note: The creation and activation of your BJC ID/credentials for all technology and course registration are contingent on the completion of your entire admissions record. Therefore, it's best that you submit all requirements and make your deposit as early as possible to avoid any delays in account creation, setup, and course registration. These processes do take some time working across many departments to occur.
