Goldfarb Partners with St. Louis College of Pharmacy to Offer New Pathways to Nursing Careers
Representatives of St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing announced they have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish new pathways for students of the College to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Goldfarb.
The institutions have created two opportunities for students to complete prerequisite requirements at the College, with the intent to complete a BSN at Goldfarb. Students will have the ability to choose from two options:
Goldfarb President and Dean Receives St. Louis Magazine Nursing in Excellence Award
Nancy Ridenour, PhD, RN, APRN, BC, FAAN, president and the Maxine Clark and Bob Fox dean and professor of Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing, was named the 2019 St. Louis Magazine Excellence in Nursing Award winner for administration. In addition to Dr. Ridenour, Goldfarb educators Lisa Burnitt, DNP, RN, ANP-BC, assistant professor and director of the adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner program, and Tamara Otey, PhD, RN, assistant professor, were also nominated.

Goldfarb School of Nursing Launches New PhD Program with Washington University
As a consortial program with The Graduate School at Washington University in St. Louis, Goldfarb students pursuing a PhD in nursing have the chance to experience an interdisciplinary learning environment unlike any other program in the St. Louis area. Goldfarb School of Nursing’s Nurse Anesthesia Program receives high ranking from the Nursing School Hub List of Top Nurse Anesthetist Programs
Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing was just ranked number 8 out of 21 on the Nursing School Hub list of top nurse anesthetist programs in the United States. Nursing School Hub was established to provide useful information and resources to those interested in the field of nursing.
Goldfarb Simulates Poverty Scenarios for Students
Over the course of two hours nursing students participated in a large-scale poverty simulation to learn about the challenges low-income families face in an effort to survive. The simulation was hosted by Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing.
Goldfarb Student Featured in St. Louis Magazine
Rebecca Schamel was in the preceptorship of her nursing program at Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing when the pandemic hit. Rather than finish their preceptorships in the hospital, nursing students were given two options: work through case studies online or volunteer at a COVID-19 testing site for BJC HealthCare. Schamel, who grew up in a family of nurses, volunteered.
“I went back and forth a bit but felt it was an opportunity to be a part of something the world hasn’t seen in a long time,” she says.
Goldfarb Student Receives Scholarship
Jessica Washington, a student at Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing, recently was awarded the school’s 2019 Dr. Donald M. Suggs Minority Nursing Student Scholarship. Washington is a first-term nursing student in Goldfarb’s accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
