Express Gratitude in the form of a Nomination
What faculty member at Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing has impacted you most beautifully?
By nominating a faculty member for the DAISY Foundation's annual DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty, you can share your gratitude for their guidance, inspiration and influence on you personally and professionally.
Since 1999, the DAISY Foundation has been honoring nurses who provide above-and-beyond compassionate care to patients and families.
Bonnie and Mark Barnes co-founded The DAISY Foundation in memory of their son, J. Patrick Barnes. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired the creation of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
In 2010, they expanded their nursing awards to include the DAISY Faculty Award. This award provides schools of nursing with a national recognition program to demonstrate appreciation for their nursing faculty.
"Goldfarb is thrilled to partner with the DAISY Foundation to recognize the special faculty members who prepare our nursing workforce and inspire our students to ensure both the art and science of nursing are brought to every patient experience," says Mayola Rowser, Ph.D., DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP, Jack Taylor Dean and Professor at Goldfarb. "The DAISY Faculty Award celebrates the contributions faculty members make to teaching our next generation of nurses."
The COVID-19 pandemic has shined a light on faculty who have positively contributed to nursing education, despite the many challenges faced. Nursing faculty have demonstrated their commitment to nursing education as they converted courses from brick-and-mortar delivery to online learning opportunities in record time and used their ingenuity to provide clinical experiences in simulated environments during the pandemic.
Nursing faculty also ensured the psychological and physical safety of their students, making themselves available to their students long after the workday was complete. These heroes are integral to the next generation of nurses and the nursing profession at large. The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Faculty provides the opportunity to recognize their valuable contributions in an ongoing and meaningful way.
Now is your chance to recognize a faculty member who has been an outstanding mentor for your professional growth. Goldfarb nursing students may nominate faculty members for the DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Faculty. The DAISY Award recipient will be presented at this year’s Homecoming Ceremony on Friday, September 29th.
In your nomination form, please include detail about what your nurse faculty member did to make a difference in your experiences as well as how the faculty member made you feel.
Bonus: Sharing gratitude is a happiness boost for the giver and receiver! #GoldfarbMade
