John Wright, MD, and his son, John A. Wright, Jr., will present insights and stories in Discovering African American St. Louis: A Guide to Historic Sites, an engaging presentation highlighting overlooked African American landmarks and their vital role in St. Louis since its founding in 1764.
Dr. Wright honors the legacy of his late wife, Sylvia Wright, one of Barnes-Jewish College’s first African American student nurses. Sylvia graduated in 1958 from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing, attending on a scholarship, and dedicated her life to healthcare. In her memory, Dr. Wright established an endowed scholarship to support underserved students pursuing nursing education, reflecting their shared passion for education and quality care.
